The Blackthorne Inn in Inverness and Point Reyes National Seashore Hike

Bret surprised me with a very relaxing and peaceful 27th Anniversary getaway. The Blackthorne Inn is in the town of Inverness in Marin County. It's secluded and very private with very nice inn keepers that make sure your every need is met.

Friday night we had a very elegant and enjoyable dinner at the Olema Inn. It's organic menu is one of the best we have ever eaten.

On Saturday we spent the day hiking in the Point Reyes National Seashore. The hike started in a Eucalyptus grove followed by a scenic coastal route. We took a side trip to a series of 3 beautiful waterfalls that eventually spilled into the ocean. We had lunch at the base of the first waterfall then trekked down a steep, slippery rock section to get to the bottom of the third waterfall. After heading back out to the main trail we meandered through canyons and gorges, up and over ridges and back out to the ocean. There were many spectacular views and vistas along the way that we'll never forget.

This is the back of the inn and view of the "Eagles Nest" in the background.

Very quiet, peaceful and relaxing with 360 degree views.

This is the "Eagles Nest"...4 stories up in the tree tops. We woke up in the morning to singing birds and fresh cool air.

Climbing up the 4 story spiral staircase.

The stairs got smaller and smaller...going down was like entering a cave...

Inside the room.

Our private hot tub and deck.

The ladder to the roof of the Eagles Nest....scary....
